Movies Watched This Week: Transformers

Transformers posterI haven’t been watching a lot of movies lately. Too busy with some projects that I need to focus on right now.

Anyway, last weekend my girlfriend came over and decided to watch Transformers (2007), a movie I have in my small dvd collection. She had never seen it before which kinda surprised me since it was a blockbuster back then.

Then again, these kinda movies with robots and sci-fi stuff aren’t her type of fare. She only watched about three-quarters of it anyway.

When I had first seen the movie, I don’t think I had ever gotten through to watch until the end. If I did, I just can’t remember seeing some of the parts near the end of the movie.

Transformers Review

In the movie Transformers, the Autobots lead by Optimus Prime and the evil Decepticons lead by Megatron come to Earth to find a cube called the AllSpark which happens to be in the possession of Sam Witwicky (Shia LeBeouf). If the Decepticons get to it first, it could mean the destruction of the entire human race so the Autobots must try to stop them by finding the cube.

The movie’s action is very engaging and the film is quite humorous at times. Some of my favorite funny moments are:

  • The late Bernie Mac as a shady used car salesman
  • Bumblebee trying to get Sam hooked up with that Megan Fox chick (“Baby come back!”)
  • Sam finding out about Bumblebee
  • The Transformers find out about the location of the AllSpark through eBay
  • Sam’s parents thinks he’s masturbating in his room

The movie is quite funny and has lots of great scenes.

I however started to lose a bit of interest some time after maybe the first hour and fifteen minutes probably for some reason. I think this is just about the point my girlfriend tuned out and found something else to do. Maybe this is also the part where I lost interest the first time I saw the movie as well.

Whatever it is, this says that the movie isn’t as good as it could probably be.

I haven’t seen any of the sequels as yet. I’m not too interested but I’m sure they would make good Saturday afternoon entertainment.
